Ingredients

1 ripe mango, peeled and diced into bite-sized pieces

1 ripe avocado, peeled and diced into bite-sized pieces

1 small red onion, finely chopped

1 medium jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (adjust heat level according to your preference)

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped

Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin to add a warm depth of flavor

Optional: Tortilla chips for serving or as a crunchy accompaniment

Instructions

In a spacious mixing bowl, carefully combine the diced mango and avocado. Use a gentle tossing motion to avoid mashing the avocado into a puree.

Add the finely chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro to the bowl. Employ a soft mixing technique to combine the ingredients without damaging the avocado.

Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the mixture. Season it with salt and pepper to taste. If you choose to include ground cumin, sprinkle it in at this stage.

Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until everything is evenly coated with lime juice and the flavors begin to meld.

Allow the salsa to sit for approximately 10 minutes at room temperature. This resting time enhances the flavor fusion and allows the ingredients to work together beautifully.

Serve the salsa promptly with crispy tortilla chips for dipping, or use it as a vibrant and refreshing topping for grilled chicken or fish.
