Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

2 tbsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp olive oil

6 slider buns

1 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/2 cup shredded cheese (either cheddar or pepper jack)

Optional: fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent. Next, incorporate the minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute until fragrant, stirring frequently.

Cook the Turkey: Add the ground turkey into the skillet, using a spatula to break it into smaller pieces. Cook for approximately 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s fully cooked and browned, ensuring no pink remains.

Incorporate Flavorings: Lower the heat, then stir in the tomato sauce, minced chipotle peppers, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly to allow the flavors to blend. Let it simmer on low for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare the Buns: While the turkey mixture is simmering, lightly toast the slider buns. You can do this in a clean skillet over low heat or place them under a broiler for a couple of minutes until they turn golden brown and crisp.

Assemble the Sliders: Take the bottom half of each toasted slider bun and spoon a generous amount of the spicy turkey mixture onto each. Layer on the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.

Finish & Serve: Place the top half of each bun over the filled sliders. For an added touch, you can garnish with fresh cilantro on top. Serve these delectable sliders immediately, and savor the spicy goodness!

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 6 sliders

                - Presentation Tips: Arrange the sliders on a platter and serve with additional toppings, such as pickled jalapeños or a drizzle of extra chipotle sauce for those wanting an extra kick. Pair with sweet potato fries for a delightful meal!
