Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups broccoli florets

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 tablespoons honey

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice or quinoa, for serving

Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, season the peeled and deveined shrimp with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper. Toss gently to ensure even coating and set them aside to marinate briefly.

Blanch the Broccoli: Fill a medium-sized pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Carefully add the broccoli florets to the boiling water and let them blanch for 2 minutes. Quickly remove the broccoli and plunge it into an ice bath to halt the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain the broccoli and set it aside to ensure it remains vibrant and crisp.

Make the Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and optional grated ginger until well combined. Set this flavorful sauce aside to allow the ingredients to meld.

Cook the Shrimp: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp in a single, even layer. Sauté the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn a lovely pink color and are opaque throughout. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan to ensure they cook evenly.

Combine with Broccoli and Sauce: Once the shrimp are cooked to perfection, add the blanched broccoli florets to the skillet. Pour the honey-garlic sauce over the shrimp and broccoli mixture. Gently toss everything together to ensure all ingredients are evenly coated with the sauce. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and soak into the shrimp and broccoli.

Serve: Remove the skillet from the heat. Plate the delicious honey garlic shrimp and broccoli over a generous serving of cooked rice or quinoa. For an extra touch, sprinkle sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.
