Ingredients

1 package (14 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

6 oz thinly sliced ham

6 oz shredded Swiss cheese

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). To prepare for baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Carefully open the package of refrigerated crescent roll dough. On a clean, flat surface, unroll the dough and separate it into individual triangles along the perforated edges.

Spread the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey (if using) to create a sweet and tangy sauce. Using a small spatula or the back of a spoon, spread approximately ½ teaspoon of this mixture onto the larger end of each triangle of dough.

Add Ham and Cheese: On top of the mustard mixture, place 1-2 slices of ham, ensuring they cover the base of the triangle. Follow with a generous tablespoon of shredded Swiss cheese. To enhance the flavor, season with a light sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper.

Roll Them Up: Starting from the wide end of each triangle, carefully roll the dough toward the pointed tip. Ensure that the ham and cheese are tucked inside as you roll, creating a classic croissant shape.

Brush with Egg Wash: Arrange the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Using a pastry brush, gently apply the beaten egg over the top of each croissant to achieve a beautiful golden color when baked.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and allow the croissants to bake for 12-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them; they should puff up and turn a lovely golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the croissants from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. For an added touch of flavor and color, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top before serving. These croissants are perfect warm as a delightful appetizer or an irresistible snack!
