Ingredients

1 cup elbow macaroni

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for maximum crunch)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, approximately 8 minutes. Drain the pasta and set it aside in a large mixing bowl.

Make the Cheese Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the softened cream cheese and milk. Stir until the cream cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth. Gradually add in half of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, stirring until fully melted and incorporated. Season the mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Gently fold in the cooked macaroni until every piece is well coated in the cheesy goodness.

Cool the Mixture: Spread the mac and cheese mixture evenly onto a parchment-lined baking tray. Place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, allowing it to firm up for easier handling.

Form the Poppers: After the mixture has cooled and set, use a small scoop or your hands to take out portions of the mac and cheese mixture, rolling them into balls about 1 inch in diameter.

Prepare the Breading Station: Set up three shallow bowls: one filled with all-purpose flour, the second with the beaten eggs, and the third with the panko breadcrumbs.

Bread the Poppers: Take each mac and cheese ball and gently roll it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip the ball into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally, roll it in the panko breadcrumbs until fully coated in a crispy layer.

Air Fry the Poppers: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the breaded mac and cheese poppers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking spray to enhance crispiness. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Serve: Allow the poppers to cool for a few minutes once they are cooked. Serve with a side of marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for an added flavor punch.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 60 minutes | Servings: 4-6 servings

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve these cheesy delights on a stylish platter with a small bowl of marinara sauce in the center for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color!
