Ingredients

For the Brownies:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Dulce de Leche Swirl:

1 cup dulce de leche (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

    - Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it lightly and lining it with parchment paper, allowing some overhang on the sides for easy removal after baking.

      Make the Brownie Batter:

        - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once fully melted, take it off the heat and stir in the granulated sugar until it is fully incorporated.

          - Slowly whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Ensure to mix well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract and give it a good stir to combine all the wet ingredients.

            - In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold these dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the brownies tender.

              - Finally, gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

                Prepare for Swirling:

                  - Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.

                    - Add dollops of dulce de leche over the brownie layer, then use a knife or skewer to create a swirl effect in the batter. Take care not to cut through to the bottom layer, as you want to maintain distinct layers.

                      Add Remaining Batter:

                        - After swirling, pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the dulce de leche layer, smoothing it out to cover. For an extra indulgent touch, add additional dollops of dulce de leche on top and swirl lightly to create a beautiful marbled effect.

                          Bake:

                            - Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Keep a close eye to avoid overbaking, as fudgy brownies are key to this recipe!

                              Cooling & Serving:

                                - Once baked, transfer the pan onto a wire rack and allow the brownies to cool for at least 20 minutes. For an added flavor burst, you can sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of the warm brownies.

                                  - When fully cooled, use the parchment overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Cut into squares and serve them to friends and family, enjoying the deliciously gooey dulce de leche swirls in each bite!
