Ingredients

6 large dill or kosher pickles

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to spice preference)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Oil spray for air frying

Instructions

Prepare the Pickles: Begin by slicing the pickles in half lengthwise. Then, cut each half into quarters to form spears. Using paper towels, gently pat the pickle spears dry to eliminate any excess moisture, ensuring that the breading adheres better.

Set Up Breading Stations: Arrange three bowls on your workspace. In the first bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, beat the eggs until fully combined. In the third bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Coat the Pickles: Take one pickle spear and first dip it into the flour, fully coating it. Shake off any excess flour. Next, immerse it in the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, roll the spear in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well. Repeat this process for all pickle spears.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to a temperature of 400°F (200°C). Allow it to preheat for around 5 minutes to ensure optimal cooking.

Arrange in the Air Fryer: Lightly spritz the air fryer basket with oil spray to avoid sticking. Carefully place the breaded pickle spears in a single layer, making sure they are spaced apart for even cooking. If needed, cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Air Fry the Pickles: Once arranged, give the tops of the pickle spears a light spray of oil to promote crispiness. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until the spears are golden brown and crispy. For best results, flip the pickles halfway through the cooking time.

Serve and Enjoy: After cooking, carefully remove the pickle spears from the air fryer and let them cool for about a minute. Serve them warm alongside your preferred dipping sauce, such as creamy ranch or zesty spicy aioli.
