Ingredients

6 small corn tortillas

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Optional: lime wedges & fresh cilantro for serving

Instructions

Warm the Tortillas: Begin by gently warming the corn tortillas to ensure they're pliable. You can use a dry skillet heated over medium-low heat; warm each tortilla for approximately 30 seconds on each side. This step is crucial as it helps prevent the tortillas from cracking when you shape them.

Shape the Taco Shells: Using a metal taco shell mold is ideal for shaping the tortillas. If you don’t have one, you can simply fold each tortilla in half and place them in the air fryer basket. Ensure that they are positioned snugly against the sides of the mold or basket to promote even cooking.

Prepare the Seasoned Oil: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and smoked paprika. Stir the mixture well until all the spices are evenly incorporated into the oil, creating a flavorful seasoning blend.

Coat the Tortillas: Using a pastry brush, lightly apply the seasoned oil onto each tortilla shell, ensuring an even coating. This step will enhance the crispiness of the shells during the air frying process.

Air Fry the Taco Shells: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Once fully heated, carefully arrange the tortilla shells in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, flipping the shells halfway through to ensure they brown evenly. The shells should be golden and crispy when done.

Cooling and Serving: Once cooked, allow the taco shells to cool for a couple of minutes. This will help them firm up and hold their shape. Serve them warm with your preferred fillings like seasoned meat, beans, cheese, and garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges on the side for a zesty touch.
